Question: How does it work?

Step 1: Donate to Accord Kids, which is an SGO powered by American Association of Christian Schools Scholarship fund. Do this after January 1, 2027

Question: What is the Education Freedom Tax Credit?

The Education Freedom Tax Credit (EFTC) is a federal program established by the Working Families Tax Cuts Act (2025). It allows individuals and businesses to donate to approved Scholarship Granting Organizations (SGOs) and receive a dollar-for-dollar federal income tax credit of up to $1,700 per person per year ($3,400 for married couples filing jointly). The donations fund K–12 scholarships for eligible students.

Question: What is NC Accord Kids?

Answer: The federal Education Freedom Tax Credit allows private donors to fund scholarships for eligible K–12 students — at no cost to donors, schools, or families. Your child may be able to attend the Victory Christian School with scholarship support or your friends and family can donate their tax credit to Victory Christian School and help us support our mission

Question: Does this cost me anything out of pocket?

Answer: NO it does not. This is a federal tax credit so as long as you pay federal income taxes that exceed $1,700 (or $3,400 if married filing jointly) so any money you give you will get back when you file your tax return.

Question: What is a pledge?

Answer: Giving doesn’t officially start until January 1, 2027 but you can pledge what you would be willing to donate via the simple form below. This shows your commitment to donating to Victory Christian School and allows us to better plan for next year.

Question: Does the money I donate go to my child?

Answer: Not necessarily. The money will go into a pot of scholarship dollars that will be distributed by Victory Christian School. It is likely that your child will benefit from your gift because if your household income is at or below 300% of your county’s Area Media Income you qualify. Roughly 96% of children nationally meet the income threshold (per Treasury proposed regs, 91 FR 62818).

Question: Does this take money away from public schools?

NO! This is a federal tax credit, this is not money that would have gone to public schools.

Question: Does this replace NC Opportunity Scholarship?

Nope, NC Opportunity Scholarship is a state program whereas this is a federal tax credit. These can work together to ensure that a child can attend VCS at virtually no cost to their parents.

Question: Do I have to live in NC to donate?

Nope! This is a federal tax credit which means you can direct your tax credit to VCS no matter what state you live in!

Question: How much of the funds donated to Accord Kids benefit students directly?

90% of the contributions sent to Accord Kids are used to fund scholarships for eligible K – 12 students.
